Swiss citizens just need a valid passport that is valid up to 6 months after the return date for entry into Mauritius. A visa is not necessary.
Air Mauritius is the national airline, which offers daily connections from Paris. With Emirates there are a few more daily connections from Zurich and Geneva via Dubai (flight time about 12 hours). There are some other airlines which offer their service to Mauritius. The internation Mauritius is characterized by a moderate climate throughout the year. In general, the east coast windy and hilly highlands is often slightly overcast. The beach areas are enjoying a year-round warm climate with plenty of sunshine. From December to March it is hot and humid. The local currency is the Mauritian Rupee (MUR). MUR 100 - CHF 3.50 = approx. The currency import is free. Credit cards are accepted in hotels and in many stores.
The price level for food and drinks in the hotels is comparable to that in Switzerland.
Mauritius can be combined very well with Madagascar, Reunion, Seychelles and Rodrigues.
